旧約聖書：イザヤ書・第２章・第４節

「主は国々の争いを裁き、
多くの民を戒められる。
彼らは剣を打ち直して鋤とし
槍を打ち直して鎌とする。
国は国に向かって剣を上げず
もはや戦うことを学ばない。」
◇次は英文です。
「He shall judge between the nations,
and shall decide disputes for many peoples;
and they shall beat their swords
into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword
against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore.」

アメリカ合衆国のニューヨークにある国際連合プラザ（国連広場）の通称「イザヤ・ウォール（Isaiah Wall）」と呼ばれる壁に、世界における非戦と平和を願って大預言者イザヤの聖句（聖書の言葉）が刻まれています。

◇刻まれているのは、上に掲載した聖句の次の部分（英文）です。
「they shall beat their swords
into plowshares,
and their spears into pruning hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword
against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore.」
◇この英文は第４節の3行目からです。武器である剣や槍が、農作業で使う鋤（すき）や鎌（かま）に作り直されるのです。それでは戦争にはならないですね(*^▽^*) ウクライナに侵略しているロシアのプーチン大統領に読ませたい聖句です！
